Gyamfia Osei

Agent
UK & US

Gyamfia Osei joined ANA in 2023 as a Literary Agent in the UK department. A Bookseller Rising Star, she was previously at The Good Literary Agency, where she began building a list of award-winning and bestselling authors writing from middle-grade and YA up to adult fiction.

Her recent highlights include auctions for Kai Spellmeier’s YA romance Boy Friends and Eleanor Medhurst’s cultural history Queer in Colour, ‘significant’ six-figure deals for Busayo Matuluko’s bestselling YA thriller ‘Til Death and C.M. Basma’s debut epic fantasy The Fallen Sun, and the shortlisting of Ebinehita Iyere’s Girlhood, Unfiltered at the British Book Awards.

At ANA, Gyamfia is focusing on expanding the agency’s list of children’s authors, particularly in genre fiction and Crossover, while also representing a select list of adult commercial fiction and narrative non-fiction. She additionally oversees the English-language representation of ANA’s international children’s authors.

In the children’s space, Gyamfia is on the lookout for boy-led stories in the vein of Stormbreaker and teen fiction reminiscent of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Glow Up Lara Bloom. She’s especially keen to find a graphic novel or illustrated project for MG or younger YA readers.

In Crossover and adult fiction, Gyamfia is drawn to well-plotted, fast-paced narratives with unforgettable characters — think Butcher and Blackbird, Not Quite Dead Yet, and Immortal Dark. Her tastes span genres, but she’s particularly interested in quirky fantasy, dark or off-beat romantic comedy, and tightly plotted domestic noir.

In non-fiction, she’s keen to see cultural history and narrative non-fiction projects with strong voices and fresh perspectives, such as Brit(ish), It’s Not That Radical, and Everything I Know About Love. She’s also open to children’s non-fiction, especially unique cookbooks for young chefs, books on mental health and wellness, and projects that centre the experiences of children from the global majority.

Please note that Gyamfia is not currently considering picture books, literary fiction, trauma-focused commercial stories, or especially gruesome horror.
