Il Club Montecristo (The Montecristo Club)
When Viviana, a young employee at an art gallery, is found murdered in her apartment, the police focus their suspicions on the former convict Danilo Secchi: the same modus operandi as the murder that had landed him behind bars years ago, and his fingerprints at the crime scene. It doesn’t matter that the evidence is at most circumstantial: for Commissioner Cassini, “guilty once, guilty forever.” Fortunately for Danilo, not everyone thinks the same way. Arno, a computer technician with two children and a strained marriage, discovers this when his old friend Lans, a talented painter recently released from prison for a never fully explained robbery, appears with a strange proposal: to use his computer skills for the Montecristo Club, a widespread association of former convicts determined to deliver justice when those officially tasked with it are too short-sighted to succeed. Arno and Lans slowly realize that Viviana had many secrets, and that the truth about her death lies hidden there.
