Sky orders 8 episodes of SWEETPEA
13th February, 2020
We are thrilled to confirm that See-Saw Films has confirmed an order of eight episodes of C J Skuse’s SWEETPEA, adapted by Kirstie Swain (Pure, Channel 4).
Patrick Walters, Development Executive for See-Saw Films said: “C J Skuse has crafted a hero who is both admirable and fearsome, moral yet conflicted, loving but full of anger. Not only is the novel laugh-out-loud funny and propulsive in its thrills and spills, it struck us as that rarer thing still, a powerful meditation on love and hate, and what happens when you have too much of both. It will be truly unmissable television.”
C J Skuse said: “I had a crazy dream in my head that one day someone might want to put one of my books on screen. To say that I’m happy See-Saw Films are making my crazy dream come true is an understatement. I’m truly overjoyed to be working with them on Sweetpea and I know they’ll look after her well. I can’t wait to see Rhiannon brought to life.”
SWEETPEA was published by HQ Stories in 2017, with the sequel, IN BLOOM following in 2018. C J’s latest novel, standalone thriller, THE ALIBI GIRL (HQ), was published on 6th February. C J Skuse is also the author of Young Adult novels Pretty Bad Things, Rockoholic, Dead Romantic, Monster and The Deviants. Born in Weston-super-Mare, C J has first class degrees in Creative Writing and Writing for Young People and, aside from writing, lectures on the MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University.
