Hallgrímur Helgason awarded Icelandic Translation Prize
16th February, 2017
Many congratulations to Hallgrímur Helgason who has been awarded the Icelandic Translation Prize this week, for his version of Shakespeare’s Othello.
Premiering in December 2016, Othello is currently on stage with the Vesturport group at the National Theatre in Reykjavik. This is the second time Helgason has translated Shakespeare’s plays into Icelandic for director Gisli Örn Gardarsson, having previously worked on Romeo & Juliet in 2002, which went on to tour Europe over a 10-year run.
