The Cineworx Filmproduktion will be directed by Nicola Bellucci, with Davide Longo in place as screenwriter. The cast will comprise of both Italian and Swiss actors, including Luigi Lo Cascio, Vincenzo Crea, Ursina Lardi, Bruno Todeschini and Leonardo Nigro.
IL MANGIATORE DI PIETRE tells the story of Cesare, a former bootlegger and human trafficker who
stumbles across the body of his murdered friend, Fausto, in a remote valley and is immediately cast as prime suspect by the investigating police. As Cesare wins over the trust of lead investigator Sonja di Meo, romance blossoms, threatening to derail his promise to avenge Fausto’s murder at the hands of a local drug smuggling ring.
Enlisting the help of Sergio, a young man from the village, in return for guiding refugees over the Italian/Swiss border, Cesare succeeds in passing incriminating documents to Sonja, documents which can unmask the backers behind the drug ring. Unbeknown to Cesare however, a surprise antagonist has other ideas.
