Dunya Mikhail longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2021

Many congratulations to Dunya Mikhail, who has been longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction 2021, with her debut novel The Bird Tattoo. Mikhail, who worked as a journalist for the Baghdad Observer until, facing increasing threats from the Iraqi authorities, she fled first to Jordan, then to the United States, is the author of four acclaimed poetry collections and a work of literary non-fiction, The Beekeeper of Sinjar, which was longlisted for the National Book Award for Translated Literature 2018 and the PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Prize for Non Fiction, PEN America Literary Awards 2019.
