Rita Canas Mendes

Rita Canas Mendes (Lisbon, 1984) graduated in Philosophy and has a postgraduate degree in Publishing. After working in several Portuguese publishing houses, she currently dedicates herself to literary translation – having translated works by Margaret Atwood, Lucia Berlin, Patricia Highsmith, and Edna O’Brien, among others – and to writing. She has published eight books until now, all in different genres, from practical guides to children’s books, with another three about to get published. Teoria das Catástrofes Elementares (Elementary Catastrophe Theory) is her first novel.
