Lee Weatherly grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has wanted to be an author since writing her first story at the age of five. She also illustrated it and published it (if drawing a publication logo on with a crayon counts). She can’t recall the number of jobs she’s had since, but they include being an au pair, a desk clerk at the Grand Canyon, a hostess in an après ski lounge (halfway up a mountain reachable only by ski lift – no, she can’t ski) and assistant to a film and TV agent.
She’s now an award-winning author of over 50 books for children and young adults, including the bestselling YA trilogy Angel, which has sold over a third of a million copies worldwide. Her acclaimed middle-grade novels include Child X and Missing Abby; she’s also written numerous series titles for younger readers. Her work has been translated into over 10 different languages.
Lee’s new YA trilogy, the Broken series, will be published by Usborne and is ‘an exhilarating epic of deception, heartbreak and rebellion, set in a daring and distorted echo of 1940s America’. Book one, Broken Sky, comes out in March 2016, with Darkness Follows in October ’16 and Black Moon in March ‘17.
After that, Lee rather fancies that she might want to lie down and have a nice nap.
Lee lives in Hampshire, England with her husband and cat, where she spends entire days in her pyjamas, writing and drinking coffee.
