Management Changes at Andrew Nurnberg Associates

1st July, 2025
Andrew Nurnberg Associates Limited (ANA), the London office of the international literary agency founded in 1977, has restructured its management team following Jenny Savill’s decision to return to looking after her authors full time.
Savill, who held the post of Managing Director following the retirement of founder Andrew Nurnberg in 2022, will move to a new role as an agency director and primary agent, focusing on her established list of adult and children’s authors, including Cornelia Funke, Fred Fordham, Natasha Pulley and Catriona Ward.
Michael Dean, who joined ANA in 2016 and is currently director of its UK agenting team, steps up to Managing Director, effective 1st July. Michael’s authors include Antony Beevor, Charles Beaumont, Fiona Hill, Harper Lee, Carson McCullers, Norman Ohler, and Laurence Rees.
Sabine Pfannenstiel, who joined ANA in 2004 and is currently director of the London agency’s translation rights department, is promoted to Deputy Managing Director. In addition to representing agency and publisher clients for translation rights, Sabine represents bestselling German authors including Christian Berkel, Kirsten Boie and Sheila de Liz.
Doug Wallace will continue as a Director of the London agency and as Managing Director of Andrew Nurnberg Associates International Limited, the agency’s network of twelve international offices.
Dean said, ‘We owe Jenny a huge debt of gratitude for all her commitment to steering the London office through the biggest change in its history. Taking the reins from Andrew when he retired and overseeing the transition to our new offices in Bloomsbury was no small feat. We are delighted that her wonderful authors will continue to benefit from her wisdom and guidance.
‘For my part, it is a great privilege to now lead this storied Agency, with our many author, agency and publisher clients, whose interests we continue to champion worldwide with the relentless pursuit of excellence Andrew made his hallmark. I am tremendously fortunate to count on Sabine – one of the finest and most widely respected agents in international publishing – as Deputy MD, and we are excited to take the Agency forward together with Doug and the senior leadership team’.
