A PART OF A PART OF EUROPE 'том Часть Европы' and THE HAND OF FIRE 'Огненный перст'
The first volume of the series to be published consists of A Part of Europe, the non-fiction title and its fiction counterpart, The Hand of Fire. The non-fiction volume follows the history of Russia from the 9th Century up to the 13th Century, while The Hand of Fire consists of three novellas.
The first and the longest of these novellas tells of the adventures of a Byzantium spy in the 9th century in the country of Slavs and Vikings which was not called Russia yet.
The second takes place in the middle of 11th century at the lavish court of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, in the period of flourishing of the Kievskaya Rus’. The main character is a female hunchback jester, tasked with entertaining the regal inhabitants of the Prince’s residence.
