Shirley-Anne McMillan lives in Co.Down, near the Mourne Mountains with her partner, Ian, and their two children.  She is a contributor to the Belfast arts collective, Ikon, which explores postmodern religious thought, and she works as an English teacher and volunteers in her local Integrated high school.  Shirley-Anne helped to start Northern Ireland’s first high school Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) group and she has taken part in several discussions about LGBT equality in education locally.  In 2014 an extract from her Young Adult novel, A Good Hiding, was included in the Undiscovered Voices anthology. Her second book, The Unknowns, came out in 2017 and her third, Every Sparrow Falling, in September 2019.
