Łukasz Kamieński is a scholar and author. He studied Politics at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, at which he attained his doctorate and where he now works, and International Relations at the LSE in London. Łukasz is the author of the widely reviewed Shooting Up: A Short History of Drugs and War, published in the UK by Hurst and in the US by Oxford University Press. Originally written in Polish, the book has also been translated into Spanish, French, and Italian. His research and writing have recently focused on the development of the supersoldier and the ways in which biotechnology, in particular the brain sciences, has been brought to bear on the field of human enhancement. The recurring thread of his research is the impact of technology on human agency, both in war and peace.
