Craig Russell’s novels have been published in twenty-five languages. He won the CWA Dagger in the Library and is the only author to have won the McIlvanney Prize twice, having been shortlisted another twice. He has been shortlisted for the CWA Golden Dagger, the Ellis Peters Historical Dagger, the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, and the SNCF Prix Polar in France. Craig Russell is the only non-German to have been awarded the Polizeistern – the Hamburg Police’s Police Star. He also writes speculative fiction as Christopher Galt.
Five of his Fabel novels, set in contemporary Hamburg, have been made into major films in Germany, in one of which he has a cameo role as a detective. The movie rights to The Devil Aspect were acquired by Sony/Columbia Pictures, Hyde is under option to a major US streaming service, his Lennox novels, set in 1950s Glasgow, were acquired for television adaptation by a UK production house.
Craig Russell’s latest novel is The Devil’s Playground, set in 1920s Silent Era Hollywood, against the background of “the greatest horror movie ever made”.
