Cornelia Funke

Author of the New York Times bestselling INKHEART series, Cornelia Funke was born in 1958 in the small town of Dorsten in Germany. In a career as a writer and illustrator spanning 35 years, Cornelia has been published in 53 languages and her books, including the DRAGONRIDER series (DRACHENREITER, Dressler 1997) and THE THIEF LORD (HERR DER DIEBER, Dressler 2000) have sold well over 22 million copies, worldwide. Her books have won many awards, such as the German Youth Literature Award, the Bachelder Award in the US, the Silver Quill in the Netherlands, amongst others. THE GREEN KINGDOM (DAS GRUNE KONIGREICH) was published in Germany by Dressler in April 2023. It has so far sold in excess of 25,000 copies and spent 5 months in the Der Spiegel Top Ten. Cornelia lives with her two dogs in Tuscany, Italy, where she regularly hosts artists from around the world. Her old olive farm provides a retreat for creatives to be inspired and to collaborate in ever surprising and amazing ways.
