L. A. Weatherly grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has wanted to be an author since writing her first story at the age of five. The many jobs she’s had along the way include being an au pair, a desk clerk at the Grand Canyon, a hostess in an après ski lounge (halfway up a mountain reachable only by ski lift – no, she can’t ski) and assistant to a film and TV agent.

She’s now an award-winning author of over 50 books for children and young adults, whose work has been published in 20 different languages. Weatherly’s bestselling YA trilogy Angel has sold over a third of a million copies worldwide. Currently she’s working on an exciting new ‘Romantasy’ YA trilogy for Hachette, with the first title, Seven Deadly Spells, due out in 2026. A Romeo and Juliet story set in a world where magic-users are the mafia, Seven Deadly Spells is an epic tale of passion, family loyalty, and betrayal.

She lives in the Scottish Borders with her husband and dog, where she avoids the DIY needed on their rambling Victorian home and drinks far too much coffee.
