C. M. Stephenson

Christine grew up in the towns and villages of Lancashire. Her childhood was spent scrambling up onto the moors, wading through deep snow in winter and tramping through fields of cotton grass in summer. At seventeen she discovered Northern Soul, Marvin Gaye and all-night clubs. At eighteen she took a train down to Cornwall and never moved back. She has numerous professional qualifications relating to her previous career in human resource management and executive coaching. In her fifties she took up marathon running and triathlons.

In 2008, she and her husband started a brand new life in South Gloucestershire. She was then able to concentrate on what she’d always dreamed of being – a writer of fiction. Initially studying creative writing with Open University, she successfully completed the MA Creative Writing at Bath Spa. Set amidst the Lancashire moorlands and the 1970s drug culture of northern soul, her debut novel She Lies Hidden was published in 2018 by Bloodhound Books. She says at long last her misspent youth is proving useful.
